Saunders 1865 Team Recommendation: Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland
These last few days in London have made it apparent that autumn is nearing an end and that winter is coming. The Tube is now littered with bundled-up passengers, bigger cups of tea, and the occasional lost mitten on the floor. Although winter means longer nights, cold streaks and an increase of tissues bought and used, there is a major plus for it being wintertime: The Hyde Park Winter Wonderland.
Every year, Hyde Park is lit up by more than 100,000 holiday lights and fitted with a giant ice skating rink and a plethora of rides and games. The Giant Observation Wheel allows visitors to look out over the transformed park now decked out with two circuses (Zippos Christmas Circus and Cirque Berserk), The Magical Ice Kingdom, and various other rides and attractions.
The ice skating rink tickets include an hour of skating and free skate rentals on the largest ice rink in the UK. If the little ones aren’t yet comfortable on the ice, then Santa Land is right around the corner where they can visit Santa’s Toy Factory fun house and meet Father Christmas himself. After a full day of entertainment, visitors can lounge in one of the many (warm!) venues including the Etagen Café, Nordic Bar, and Mirror Bar for festive refreshments and music. The Saunders 1865 team always enjoys a good cup of hot chocolate or mulled wine on the Carousel Bar which, as its name would suggest, is a traditional carousel that slowly spins around as you enjoy your beverage.
Winter Wonderland is perfect for everyone and certainly not to be missed!
