During the decade that I was lucky enough to live in the USA. One new experience for me that I did enjoy was the Thanksgiving holiday.
Growing up in the UK, I had only heard about it through the movies – and always imagined it to be a paler version of Christmas.
But actually living in the US, I started to appreciate the very special nature of this unique festival. I specially loved the emphasis on just enjoying a wonderful feast with family and friends – without all the gift exchanging, etc. Just being with people you care about.
Now back immersed in UK life, I do miss that. On the other hand, I like the fact that it’s becoming more of a thing over here too now.
