How would you like to live in Harry Potter’s old house? Secret passages and moving staircases probably don’t feature but perhaps there’s a little sprinkling of magic dust in the air… In fact, the property that’s just gone on the market in Fulham is the childhood home of Daniel Radcliffe, the boy who grew up to become Harry Potter and star of the world’s most successful ever film franchise.
We think it’s fairly safe to say that Daniel didn’t spend his time living here in a cupboard under the stairs; the house is a pretty, white-painted terraced house at the more popular end of Sherbrooke Road in the ‘Munster Village’ area of Fulham. Inside it has been fantastically renovated to offer a generously proportioned double reception room and an ultra-modern kitchen diner overlooking a small courtyard garden. Upstairs, four bedrooms and two bathrooms make it just the right size for a growing family. And the asking price? A cool £1.175 million.
And funnily enough, at the other end of the country, J K Rowling also has a property for sale. The eight-bedroom Victorian house in Edinburgh, where she is known to have written at least four of the Harry Potter books, is for sale with an asking price of £2.25 million. With landscaped gardens, period features and a secluded office in the garden, there is plenty to attract buyers – not least a secret door. But for fans hoping to discover forgotten Potter memorabilia, it’s unlikely: the author and her family vacated the house more than two years ago for an even bigger Edinburgh mansion and since then, this house has been completely renovated.
All you need now is Dumbledore’s house for the full set!
